Leather Tramp



"Leather Tramp

(noun phrase)
One who walks or hitchhikes. This is a phrase not often used, but is mentioned in Jon Krakauer's "Into the Wild". (Mariah Burton Nelson).

Example: "He was a leather tramp, riding the backs of roads in search of adventure."

I love this book. Christopher McCandless abandons what society would view as a promising future by giving up every thing he owns to discover adventure and life on his own. Not many people are willingly leather tramps. Imagine what we could discover for ourselves if we gave a little up?
